October was fire safety month and in case you ignored it, here is another reminder. Collingwood Fire Department and Firefighters everywhere want to remind you to test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms once a month, with their slogan for this year is “PUT A FINGER ON IT!”
- Install smoke/Carbon monoxide alarms on every level and in every sleeping area of your home. IT’S THE LAW!
- Test the alarm monthly
- Replace the batteries twice a year. (Why not do this as we change the clocks forward in the spring and back in the fall?)
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installation/replacement of the alarms.
- DO NOT REMOVE THE BATTERY from your smoke/CO alarm without replacing it with a new one.
The Collingwood Fire Department also remind you that if for any reason you need assistance with the installation of a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm, or you require help replacing the batteries, they will COME TO YOUR HOME and make sure the units are properly installed an din working order. That’s a pretty GREAT offer. Their phone number is: 705-445-3920

Thanks to my dear friend,
Jack Bouwkamp, for the photo. After fighting
many fires, he is retiring this month.
