When people consider a move to our area, many ask about access to a local hospital. The good news is that we have a great hospital in Collingwood. It’s home to many first such as installing Halo Bassinets and, using high-tech, infection-fighting measures like these.
The hospital serves a permanent population in the region of about 60,000 people, 30,000 part-time residents and a further 3.5 million tourists who come to the area every year. It’s bursting at the seams and there has been a long-standing vision to build a new hospital. So, it was great news in the latest Provincial budget that it has now been given the green light to proceed with redevelopment plans! Planning for and building a new hospital is not something that can happen quickly and it is expected that any new facility may still be at least 8 years away but it’s a bright light for sure.
